Now Shipping!

Good News! Sovereign is shipping!

I know, I spoke prematurely last month. It has been a wild ride with COVID.

I just paid the invoice. You should start receiving your tracking numbers soon. It still might take a bit, Gambler's just lost two people who tested positive for COVID and another quit because of it. They are currently short handed.

Please post as soon as you get your Sovereign Rewards and let us know what you think.

Post Kickstarter Update #8: Fulfillment Starts Next Week!
over 3 years ago – Mon, Oct 19, 2020 at 11:45:50 PM

One Last Delay...What?!!!

Yes, it's true, fulfillment should start next week. I was hoping to get it started sooner, but I received word a couple weeks ago that the bottoms of the tuck cases where coming unglued due to the extra embossing. They had to reglue all of the tuck boxes to make sure they did not come apart once they were delivered to you.

Finishing This Week/Fulfillment Starts Next Week

Everything should be finishing up this week and fulfillment will start sometime next week. Thank you all for your patience. I have to admit, from the beginning of production, this project has been filled with problems and long delays. First, Covid lockdowns happened that shutdown everything (including the USPCC factory) for 2 months. Then we couldn't get enough workers to do all of the gilding, which prolonged the production for another 2 months. And then, the Metal Card Clips turned out bad, which I had to have the factory make another 100. Lastly, there was a delay due to the glue coming undone from the tucks.

...so let's hope the next couple of weeks go smoothly...right!

Launching Of A New Kickstarter

Ok, so I just want to make sure you all are not surprised by my new Kickstarter that's launching next Monday. Umbra is the name of the new Kickstarter. It is the sequel to Luminosity, which was funded in the Spring of 2019. I was planning to launch Umbra back in July or August 2020, but because of all of the delays with Sovereign, I pushed the launch date up until this point. I just wanted you all to know, so you are not surprised by this.

I usually wait until the last project has been delivered before launching a new Kickstarter. Unfortunately, due to Covid, I really can't wait much longer to launch Umbra. I hope that, because I have been doing Kickstarters for awhile, (12 successful and delivered Kickstarters) that you all realize you have nothing to worry about when it comes to getting your Sovereign rewards starting next week. Please consider backing Umbra. It should be a fun ride.

Hey, you all take care and keep yourself safe...and remember to share with me and everyone your pics of Sovereign when you receive them.

Post Kickstarter Update #7: Shipping Soon!
over 3 years ago – Sat, Oct 03, 2020 at 04:09:19 AM

Hey everyone!

I know it's been over a month since my last update. There hasn't been any news until now.

Gambler's Warehouse, who's doing the fulfillment and the gilding for the Sovereign project, will be done with the gilding next week. I am looking forward to transferring the final payment to them next week and start shipping everything out.

Poor Production Quality of the Metal Card Clips (REPRODUCE!)

One thing that has come up is the poor production quality of the Metal Card clips. For some reason, the factory decided to add scratches to the final production of the metal clips, which rendered them unsellable in my view. I had to go back to them and negotiate another production run for a reduced price. I am waiting for them to finish the production, which should be soon.

The Reason for the Delays

...has been due to COVID. Gambler's couldn't get enough workers in to handle their work load. Of course, once everything starts shipping there will probably be shipping carrier delays. I have seen this be an issue for the past few months with shipments through my website. I appreciate your patience with me and Gambler's as we are doing are best to get this project completed and shipped.

What I've Been Up Too!

So, because of the delay with Sovereign, I have not been able to launch any other Kickstarter projects. My next Kickstarter project is Umbra, which is part II in the Luminosity saga. I am hoping to launch it in a couple weeks, but if not, it won't be until January 2021. I would like to show you a sneak peek now:

All of the artwork has been submitted and despite some changes, it's all ready to go. I will be doing hot foils for the Limited Edition Backs, which you will see once the kickstarter goes live. If you thought Sovereign and Luminosity were pretty cool, wait until you get a load of UMBRA!

I hope you all are doing well and keeping safe. Talk to you, hopefully, soon!

Post Kickstarter Update #6: Fulfillment Delayed
over 3 years ago – Fri, Aug 21, 2020 at 07:31:16 AM

Hellow everyone!

Well, these are the things that happen that are unexpected, fulfillment has been delayed due to Covid19 issues. All items in this project have been produced and received by Gambler's Warehouse. A few of the last things like, gilding the Exquisite decks, laser engraving both the 3 deck exquisite case and the Gold Metal Deck Clips are done with Gambler's. I was just informed, that due to Covid restrictions and other delays, they are back logged and working to catch up. They estimate that it will be Mid-September when they are able to get fulfillment started.

I know this is frustrating. These things happen and we have to roll with it. I really appreciate your patience and I hope you all are doing well during these uncertain times. Please don't hesitate to message me if you need anything or have a question regarding this project.

HIGH FIDELITY

Thank you for your support for Sovereign and a big thanks to those who have continued to support me for the past 6 1/2 years. Your support has helped me create new and better projects.

If you would be so kind, please check out a collaboration project I'm doing with Landry Sanders. High Fidelity is a beautiful deck paying homage to one of the great playing card designers of old, Charles Goodall.  This deck showcases two main influences: the beautiful works of Charles Goodall , as well as the Victorian phonograph.

KODIAK

Also, my first self-funded deck Kodiak is available for Pre-Order Here

The Kodiak 2020 Edition is a new standards deck of playing cards that has been made for the poker player and the collector in mind.

You all stay safe and see you when I have more news regarding Sovereign.

Post Kickstarter Update #5: Exquisite Tuck Sample
almost 4 years ago – Thu, Jul 30, 2020 at 01:11:52 AM

Hey Everyone!

I'm excited to show you the final Exquisite tuck samples I got in recently. These turned out gorgeous. I think these will be some of the best decks I have produced so far. I hope you are as excited as I am to receive these. Check out the images below.

Also, I wanted to give you all some reasons for the changes to the Standard tucks from the original renders I posted on the Kickstarter page.

Why The Changes?

I ended up changing a couple things on the standard tucks, which I felt were my best options. I changed the Lion logo in the middle and the embossed pattern design.

The Lions were changed from a filled background to a non-filled background. I found that the foil detail was not able to hold with such small details and a lot of it had to do with the fill. It didn't change on the Exquisite because it was larger. The Standard logo was smaller. I simplified all lions and took out the filled background.

This was changed simply because the embossing was not coming out to my satisfactory. I chose a pattern that maintained the over all feel of the project and was large enough to create a much more desired embossing.

My Philosophy of Conduct on Public Forums

Ok, I will be as short and to the point as I can about this. I believe that the way I conduct myself on a public forum, such as Facebook, Twitter, any social media platform, as well as here on Kickstarter, is just that...public. What I normally would say in private or with close friends is different than on a public setting.

My promise to anyone I am chatting with on a public forum (where everyone can see it) is to never attack their character or them personally. The reason for me is simple, if what I say would get me popped in the mouth in person, then why would I say it in public. I see this too much on Facebook and twitter. What someone would not normally say to a person's face, they feel they can in a public setting, because they know there won't be any consequences.

About that...consequences. You are a part of this project and I treasure you and your willingness to support me and the work that I offer. I will remove anyone from my projects who violate this rule that I have just laid out above. Of course, I will do this as a last resort and with much deliberation. I hope you all can understand this and thank you.

...ok that's it. Now back to the fun stuff!

Thanks all!

Sincerely, Jody
